Perhaps it's just in how Nick's personality was painted that he doesn't seem the type to draw that kind of attention to himself in an office setting. He seems the type to hide his flaws, or deny them, or both. A bar just seemed more fitting to me. We don't know how Larry found Nick, but that's a whole other can of worms.
